"History You Can Hold" - SENTINEL KNIFE - James Madison

History Salvaged has partnered with Palmetto Blades to create a unique offering of custom handcrafted knives featuring an assortment of Historic Witness Wood®. Complementing the History Salvaged commitment to “Keep History Alive”, the partnership expands our product line by offering what Palmetto describes as “History You Can Hold”.

Each custom knife in this collection will begin with Palmetto’s one-of-a-kind custom Damascus blade, The Sentinel, which measures 6” overall length with a 2” saber ground edge. The handle construction will offer an option of an assortment of Historic Witness Wood® from History Salvaged to create the perfect, historic pocketknife. All knives are handmade and come with a custom, hand-tooled leather sheath made.

The James Madison knife is made from the Belle Grove Mulberry Tree that welcomed visitors as they approached the Birthplace of James Madison: Belle Grove Plantation entrance for more than 200 years. 

Present from colonial times, the Belle Grove Mulberry Tree bore witness from America’s Revolutionary period, stood while the White House burned during the War of 1812 while James Madison served as our 4^th President, saw both Union and Confederate troops crisscross her grounds during the Civil War, witnessed the pursuit of America’s most notorious assassin, and saw innumerable innovations, inventions and changes to our culture and way of life through the 20^th century and into the 21^st century, until she succumbed to disease and had to be removed in May 2013.
