PANAMA SOUVENIR made from a railroad tie laid across the Isthmus of Panama in 1852. A Life For Each Tie. Front of 1/2" thick slice of tie (6"x6") has brass plaque. Made From Railroad Tie/ Laid in 1852 Across/ The Isthmas of Panama/ P-P-I-P1915. This souvenir came from one of 500 Ties of Cross, Hardwood, second-hand (Original Lignum Vitae and Coka-Bolatie used in 1852), sold for souvenirs sold at the Panama Exposition in San Francisco in 1915.
